Trump's Harms
Trump promised he’d fix the country’s problems. But 100 days in, Donald Trump has hurt millions of Americans – our rights, our wallets, and our safety. And our so-called “leaders” in Congress are letting it happen.

Driving Up the Cost of Living
Trump promised to lower prices and tackle inflation. But for far too many families, the reality has been rising costs and stretched budgets, with no relief in sight.
Key Harms:
- Eggs are 60% more expensive than they were 12 months ago.
- Grocery prices have continued to climb, with March marking the sharpest year-over-year increase since August 2023.
- Electricity costs, already climbing, are on track to reach inflation-adjusted highs not seen since the 1990s, according to the conservative American Enterprise Institute.
- Imposed sweeping tariffs on Canada, China, and Mexico — and proposed even more — that independent analysis shows would cost the average family nearly $4,000 a year, add $20,000 to the price of a home, and $3,000 to a car.
Stripping Away Worker Protections
Trump’s attack on labor protections has left workers across the country with fewer rights, less power, and greater exposure to exploitation and unsafe conditions.
Key Harms:
- Sabotaged the National Labor Relations Board—the agency responsible for safeguarding workers’ rights—by illegally firing Member Gwynne Wilcox.
- Rescinded guidance that expanded the scope of remedies available to workers harmed by unfair labor practices.
- Gutted the workplace safety agency—the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health—threatening workers’ health and safety on the job.
Ripping Away Healthcare
Trump’s moves to gut the ACA, slash Medicaid, and reduce investments in public health are making lifesaving care increasingly inaccessible for millions of Americans.
Key Harms:
- Repealed executive order to lower the price of prescription drugs for families.
- Rolled back executive order to ensure that Affordable Care Act (ACA) and Medicaid were strengthened, and that high-quality healthcare was affordable and accessible to all Americans.
- Supports $880 billion in Medicaid cuts, stripping millions—including children, seniors, and people with disabilities—of lifesaving care.
- Eliminated maternal and child health programs, limiting access to prenatal, postpartum, and child health care.
Rolling Back Civil Rights
In just 100 days, Trump has taken a sledgehammer to civil rights, attempting to make it harder for millions of Americans to access equal opportunities and protections under the law.
Key Harms:
- Rescinded Executive Order 11246, which barred companies receiving federal funds from engaging in discrimination.
- Signed an illegal anti-voter executive order aimed at disenfranchising millions of eligible voters by imposing onerous document requirements many cannot readily meet.
- Eliminated the White House Gender Policy Council, which had been tasked with addressing gender-based discrimination and inequities.
- Rolled back protections against discrimination for LGBTQI individuals and families.
- Directed agencies to work to eliminate diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) initiatives across government, education, and the private sector.
- Invoked the Alien Enemies Act to authorize the deportation of legal residents and asylum seekers without due process
- Transferred hundreds of migrants—most with no criminal record—to a notorious prison in El Salvador known for torture and abuse and openly considered sending U.S. citizens there too.
Defunding Public Education
By slashing federal funding and dismantling key education offices, the Trump administration is putting America’s children at risk and abandoning the teachers and families who support them.
Key Harms:
- Reduced the Department of Education’s workforce by nearly 50%.
- Slashed $2 billion from K–12 education, including $600 million from teacher training
- Ordered the Department of Education to divert discretionary grants from K-12 public schools to private and faith-based schools
- Gutted the National Center for Education Statistics—the main federal agency responsible for collecting and analyzing data to assess educational outcomes
Cutting Support for Families
The Trump administration has steadily undercut—and continues to erode—programs families rely on for food, childcare, and economic stability, making everyday life harder for those already stretched thin.
Key Harms:
- Plans to close dozens of Social Security offices and eliminate phone support, making it harder for seniors and people with disabilities to access the benefits they earned.
- Stripped $1 billion from Head Start, forcing centers to shut down—leaving kids without preschool and parents without childcare.
- Supports more than $1 billion in cuts to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), threatening food and cash assistance for millions of families.
- Cut $500 million from food banks and ended the Local Foods for Schools program, pulling fresh, local meals off kids’ plates.
- Laid off the entire staff of the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), which helps 6.2 million low-income people nationwide afford their utility bills
Eroding Environmental Protections
The administration has systematically dismantled key environmental protections, endangering the health of communities that are already most at risk.
Key Harms:
- Cut environmental justice grants that targeted pollution in working-class and low-income communities, leaving those most at risk with fewer resources to combat deadly contamination.
- Reversed an executive order that required federal agencies to address the unequal health and environmental burdens faced by low-income communities and communities of color.
- Rolled back more than 31 essential clean air and water regulations, removing safeguards that kept harmful pollutants in check and protected millions from life-threatening diseases.
- Supports a 65% budget cut to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), alongside plans to dismantle its scientific research capacity—undermining the agency’s ability to ensure clean air and water for all Americans, no matter their income, ZIP code, or race.
Enriching the Rich at Our Expense
Trump supports tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy and loopholes for big corporations. The rich are getting richer—off our backs.
Key Harms:
- Supports plan to extend the 2017 tax cuts, providing $4.5 trillion in breaks to billionaires and corporations over 10 years. Under this plan, the top 1%—earning over $743,000 a year—would see tax cuts averaging $62,000, while those in the bottom 60%—earning up to $96,000—would only receive $400.
- The tax plan also proposes reducing the corporate tax rate from an already low 21% to 18%, giving rich corporations a $300 billion handout.
- Reopened a tax loophole that allows large corporations to dodge billions in taxes through manipulating the value of their assets to minimize their tax obligations.
- Supports loopholes for fossil fuel corporations, funneling more money to the rich while working people face worse conditions and increased pollution in their communities.
Making It Harder to Find and Afford a Home
Trump pledged to make homeownership more accessible. Instead, his policies have put safe, stable housing further out of reach for millions of families.
Key Harms:
- Proposed deep cuts to federal housing assistance, including the Section 8 program, risking rental support for millions of low-income families.
- Pulled $1 billion from a key affordable housing fund, slashing support as rents and home prices continue to surge.
- Proposed terminating the Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) rule—a key protection against housing discrimination—and replacing it with a weaker standard that makes it harder to combat discrimination and expand housing opportunities
- Imposed sweeping tariffs that are projected to drive up housing supply costs and add roughly $9,200 to the cost of building a new home.
